At my preschool graduation, I walked with a lit candle, singing, “I am who I am, I am what I am, and I like me.” Growing up in Telluride, Colorado, I was often asked if I liked being adopted. To me, it was simply my life—I had a brother, a mom, a dad, and a world filled with music, dance, soccer, and exploring nature with friends. From an early age, I felt a deep sense of purpose.
My journey in education began at a daycare, where I knew nothing about onesies or diaper changes. Since then, I have grown in both knowledge and skill, gaining insight into what makes a school truly high-quality. Earning my Level 4 in PDIS in early 2023 was a milestone, but I know learning never stops. Classes at Red Rocks Community College, pyramid trainings, Spanish school, and observation hours in Guatemala have all shaped my perspective.
I strive to be a positive influence, fostering independence and creating a safe space for students to grow. Language and borders do not divide us—we are here for our students, just as my own teachers saw and nurtured the qualities in me: observant, thoughtful, kind, and fair.
