Baking Soda Christmas Trees!

December 11, 2015

“On Wednesday the Lions experimented with building Christmas Trees using baking soda, water, glitter, and food coloring.  Once we decorated the trees with glittering ornaments the fun really began.  Several bottles of pure white vinegar were passed out for the children to pour over their tree.  As the trees bubbled and melted away we talked about the chemical reaction taking place.  Because there were not quite enough bottles to go around the children also practiced taking turns, politely asking to share, and waiting.  Overall, it was an exciting and messy way to explore our world and celebrate Christmas.” – Miss Gwyn
